Daniel Brandt started volunteering as a firefighter/EMT in 2001. He became a paramedic in 2009 after finishing his bachelor’s in Cellular Biology and Molecular Genetics from the University of MD College Park. He has worked for both The DCFD and currently for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Since 2001 Daniel has taken part (assisting and being the lead provider) in too many cardiac arrest incidents to count.

While new to the CPR instructor field, Daniel takes pride in ensuring everyone he teaches gains a firm grasp of not only how to perform the necessary skills, but also why these skills work the way they do. He makes sure that everyone is engaged in the courses and ensures they also have fun while learning at the same time.

Jim Resnick

Jim Resnick has been teaching CPR since 1978 and first aid since the 1980s. He has been involved in fire and rescue services for about 40 years and has been involved with countless cardiac arrests and other medical and trauma emergencies. He worked as a career firefighter and paramedic for Montgomery County, MD until June 2014 and he is still an active, volunteer paramedic.

While he ensures that his CPR and First Aid students are performing the skills correctly, Jim also makes his classes fun and interesting. Jim says that some of his proudest moments have been when his former students have told him how they were instrumental in saving a relative, neighbor, friend, coworker, or even a complete stranger.

When he’s not teaching fire safety and injury prevention for seniors, Jim enjoys working out, bicycling, movies and spending time with family and friends, especially at sporting events. He and his wife live in Kensington, Maryland with their three boys
